You know what? I’ve loved just being a Stay At Home Mum recently. We’ve been eating great healthy food, the house has been clean and tidy. Elliot and I have been going for long walks, playing at the playground and making things like coloured rice. And I think that this is enough. SAHM have enough going on! And I take my hats off to all SAHM, WAHM, working outside of the home mums and well, just all mums!
I haven’t felt the need to write, and my social media free Sundays seem to be bleeding into the week. But this morning I woke and there were words flying around in my head, granted those words aren’t these ones but it was the desire to do it that surprised me.
This ham baked beans recipe is one that’ll make your life easier. Just chuck it into the slow cooker, and then when you wake up breakfast is ready. Then there’s so much that you can freeze it for future you! Perfection!
- 3 small onions – diced
- 2 x 375 gm McKenzies White Beans
- 1 ham hock
- 1 L chicken stock
- 1.5 L water
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tsp paprike
- 1 tsp cracked pepper
- Put all ingredients into slow cooker.
- Set on low for 8 hours.
- Remove ham bones.
- Eat on sour dough toast with a poached egg. Delicious!
Hi Clare, these baked beans look delicious! Can I use any white beans? Will be giving this a try next weekend – thanks for sharing and inspiring x

Any dried white beans will work wonderfully.

Hi,
I followed your instructions but after 8 hrs on low the beans aren’t cooked properly and it’s still super watery…. Guess I’ll just leave it on over night?
